Turns out you can get a 2016 Edge with a car safe. Which makes me wonder: how many automakers make this feature available, and how many people actually get them?

There was a trunk safe option for X308 XJ8s. You can even still find them for sale from parts suppliers, but I’ve looked through every piece of promotional material, manual, and shop handbook and I can’t find out where the hell it was supposed to be mounted, and I don't want to shell out for something that I may never be able to properly place.
